If you want to display deactivated audio devices under Windows, you must check the Sound menu within the Windows settings.

Display deactivated audio devices under Windows: Instructions

There may be several audio devices registered via your Windows that you do not normally pay attention to. You can find an overview of all registered devices as follows:

  • Click on the Windows icon in the taskbar and then on the cogwheel. This will open the Windows settings:
  • In the Windows settings, select System. Then click on the Sound button to configure your audio devices, input and output.
  • Look for the Manage audio devices option. You will find this below the input and output. Click on it.
  • You will now see a comprehensive overview of all registered audio devices such as microphones, headphones and others. Scroll down a little until you see the Deactivated area
  • This is where you will find the registered audio devices that are currently deactivated. You can then manage them as you wish.
