Windows: Adding a Bluetooth device

by Pramith

You can easily add a Bluetooth device under Windows with just a few clicks. This applies to a mouse, keyboard or headphones

Windows 10: Add a Bluetooth device via the Control Panel

First make sure that Bluetooth is activated on your computer or laptop and the other device so that the devices can recognize each other. With smartphones, for example, you often have to set Bluetooth to “visible” first. Then proceed as follows:

  • Open the system settings in Windows and select “Devices -☻ Bluetooth”. Drag the switch next to “Bluetooth” to the right to activate Bluetooth
  • Windows now searches for available devices and lists them. Select the Bluetooth device you want to add and click on “Pair” to establish the connection.
  • You can also connect a Bluetooth printer to your computer in the system settings.
  • Switch on the printer first. You may also need to make it visible for the Bluetooth search. Look this up in the operating instructions for your printer
  • In the settings, navigate to “Devices -☻ Printers and scanners -☻ Add printer or scanner”.

  • A list of available Bluetooth devices is also displayed under Windows 11 and you only need to select the desired component.
  • You can add a Bluetooth printer under Windows 11 via the settings and there via “Bluetooth and devices -☻ Printers and scanners -☻ Add device”.
  • Wait until the printer has been found, select the device and click on “Add device”.
