Oracles Virtualbox does not start for many Windows 11 users. The reason for this is a Windows 11 update. In the meantime, the compatibility problem has been fixed.
Windows 11 – If the Oracles Virtualbox does not start
If your Oracles Virtualbox does not start on Windows 11, it probably has something to do with the Windows 11 update.
- In October 2021, Windows 11 received an update for reaching the final version of the software. However, some users have been experiencing problems since then. For example, starting Oracles Virtualbox did not work.
- The reason for this was a lack of compatibility of the latest Windows iteration with Oracle’s Virtualbox. If you had Hyper-V or Windows Hypervisor installed, this could prevent the box from starting.
- Microsoft has since lifted the upgrade lockout and Virtualbox will start again on Windows 11.
- The prerequisite for this is Windows 11, version 21H2 as well as VirtualBox 6.1.28 or newer.
