If the Windows 11 font is blurry, you can take appropriate measures. Two solutions can help remedy the problem.
Windows 11 font blurry: Improve readability with ClearType
If Windows 11 fonts appear blurry, you can improve the display using the ClearType feature. Font enhancement was already available in previous versions of Windows and has also been implemented in the latest Microsoft system. However, a few steps and a close look are necessary to optimize the font display:
- Open the Settings app on your keyboard using the “Windows key + I” combination.
- Click on “Personalization” in the left column.
- Under “Related settings,” go to “Adjust ClearType text.”
- In the ClearType Text Optimization window that opens, check the box next to “Enable ClearType” if it is not already checked. Confirm with “Next.”
- Now follow the instructions on the screen.
- In five steps, you can now select the font that you feel looks sharpest.
- Alternatively, you can try disabling ClearType optimization in the fourth step. This may give you a font that is more suitable for you.
Windows 11 font blurry: Adjust DPI scaling
If the Windows 11 font is still blurry, you should also check the DPI scaling and try different settings. Again, you can achieve this in just a few steps:
- Right-click on an empty area of your desktop.
- Go to “Display settings.” This will open the “Settings” app.
- In the right-hand column, you can now adjust the text size under “Scaling.” By clicking on the arrow, you should see predefined values such as 100, 125, 150, and 175 percent. The ideal size should already be set with the addition “recommended.”
- By clicking on “Scaling,” you can also try out your own values between 100 and 500 percent under “Custom scaling.” Confirm the new configuration by clicking on the check mark.
- However, be careful with this setting, as the image may become so illegible that you will hardly be able to switch back to the old setting.
- Alternatively, you can use the slider under “Text size” to increase the font size to suit your preferences.
