To print the screen content, you must first take a screenshot. The procedure is different depending on whether you are using Windows or macOS
Printing screen content: How to proceed under Windows
If you want to print the screen contents under Windows, first take a screenshot.
- To capture the entire screen content, use the [Print] key on the keyboard. To capture only the content of the currently open window, press [Alt] + [Print].
- On some laptop models, you must also press the Fn key, i.e. [Fn] + [Print] for the entire screen and [Fn] + [Alt] + [Print] for the content of an open window. The screenshot is then saved in the clipboard
- You can now insert the image into an image editing tool of your choice using the key combination [Ctrl] + [V]. For example, you can use the Paint program pre-installed in Windows
- Once you have inserted the screenshot, you can print the screen content using the key combination [Ctrl] + [P].
Print screen contents: under macOS
If you want to print out what you see on the screen under macOS, proceed in a similar way:
- Take a screenshot using the key combination [Shift] + [cmd] + [3]. This takes a screenshot of the entire screen
- If you only want to capture part of the screen, press [Shift] + [cmd] + [4]. By holding down the mouse button, you can then define the area to be recorded
- The screenshot is automatically saved to the desktop in PNG file format.
- Open the image file and print the screenshot using the key combination [cmd] + [P].
