Nowadays, almost every laptop has an integrated camera – also called a webcam. You can activate it not only for video calls, but also to take pictures or record videos. On newer devices, you don’t even need additional software to do this.
Laptop: Activate integrated camera from Windows 8
– With Windows 8, 10 and 11, you can access your webcam via the already integrated “Camera” app. Since Microsoft developed the programme itself, it is already pre-installed on many devices.
– Open the Start menu and look for the “Camera” app. Click on it to open the app.
– If you can’t find the app, you will need to install it from the Microsoft Store.
– You will then see the picture of your webcam. You can take photos or switch to video recording in the app via the shutter button on the right.
– If you cannot find the app, you will need to install it via the Microsoft Store.
– Good to know: If you receive the message that no camera was found, you must first activate it. This may vary depending on the laptop manufacturer. Please refer to the manufacturer’s instructions. As a rule, one of the function keys (for example, F6) is responsible for activating and reactivating the camera.
