If your TV does not find any HD channels, various causes may be responsible, even though HD reception has become standard in the meantime. We show you what you can do to solve the problems.
Television does not find HD channels – possible causes
Many TV channels already offer their films and series in high quality. These reasons may be responsible if you are not receiving HD channels:
- Free to receive: Basically, you can only receive HD channels via a subscription with a cable provider. Excluded from this are the public channels ARD, ZDF and their special interest channels.
- CI+ module: If you receive these channels but no others via cable, there is no error. You need a so-called “CI+ module” and the corresponding card to receive them.
- HD receiver: It’s easier with an HD receiver: Here you only pay once for the purchase of the receiver or you rent the device from the provider.
- Connection: However, if you cannot receive these channels via cable, check the cable for possible damage and whether it is connected correctly. Then start the channel search. The free HD channels should now be visible.
- Receiver: If you cannot receive the channels via satellite, make sure that the receiver is connected and set up correctly and that you have aligned the satellite dish correctly.
- Defect: If you have problems with HD channel reception as a customer of a telecommunications service provider, contact them for troubleshooting. There may be a defect in the line or device.
- Start manual search: If the automatic station search does not work, you can also enter the correct frequency yourself. You can usually find the frequency for a particular station on the Internet.
