If you experience sound interruptions on your Samsung TV, it is usually due to a poor input signal. The decisive factor here is which signal path you use. Our guide will show you how to solve the problem with the built-in tuner and external receiver.
Sound interruptions on Samsung TV with integrated tuner
If you want to fix the sound dropouts on your Samsung TV, first check the signal settings of the integrated tuner. Make sure that the antenna cable from the cable connection or the satellite dish is connected directly to the TV. To test this, select a channel in HD as well as one in SD.
- Press and hold the Info button on your remote for 10 to 15 seconds.
- If your remote doesn’t have an Info button, use the Menu button to navigate to “Help – Self-Diagnostics – Signal Information”.
- For the 2017 M/Q series and the 2016 K series, you can access this by pressing the Home button and selecting “Settings”.
- Now a “Signal Information” window should open, showing you the signal quality.
- For satellite reception, the signal strength should be between 65-80 and the signal quality should not fall below 100.
- For cable and DVB-T reception, the signal strength and signal quality should be 100. The bit error rate for all signal paths is ideally 0.
Sound dropouts on Samsung TV when using an external receiver
If you are using a standalone external device to receive the channel, you have the following troubleshooting options:
- Test to see if reception improves with a different HDMI cable.
- If none of these measures help, contact Samsung Service.
- If you have a Samsung Smart TV from 2012 or newer (from ES5700), you have the option of using the remote maintenance service. However, make sure that your TV is connected to the internet via LAN cable or WLAN.
