If your Sky Receiver hangs or stops working, you can reset it by doing a Receiver Reset. This is how you fix minor software errors. We’ll show you how to reset your device and the difference between hard and soft resets.
Sky Receiver Reset: Soft Reset
For minor problems, for example, if your receiver has hung up, a simple soft reset usually helps:
- Disconnect any hard disk that may be connected to your receiver.
- Unplug the power cable from the wall socket or from the connector on the back of the receiver.
- After about one minute, reconnect the cable and start the unit.
Sky Receiver Reset: Hard Reset
If the soft reset does not help, you can try the hard reset. This resets all settings to the factory settings:
- Disconnect all connected hard disks from the receiver and remove the power supply.
- Press and hold the Guide and Back buttons on the receiver at the same time.
- Reconnect the power cable and press and hold the buttons until the reset is performed.
- This process takes about 30 to 45 minutes. The unit will then restart and automatically perform a channel scan.
