Disney Plus has many films that make children’s hearts beat faster. But adults can also reminisce. We present the film highlights from Disney Plus
Disney Plus Movies: This is what the new streaming service offers
- Disney+ offers only the productions from its own house. In addition to Disney, the associated film studios Pixar, Star Wars and Marvel are also on board.
- Disney Plus offers a total of around 350 series and 500 films in its extensive archive.
- In addition, there is exclusive content and remakes. This article will go into more detail on these.
Susi and the Tramp (2019)
To kick things off, Disney remade the beloved classic “Lady and the Tramp” and released it shortly after the service launched. To this day, the film is one of the most popular contents on Disney+. This production is only available on Disney+ as a so-called original and was not broadcast in cinemas. The plot is relatively similar to the original.
- The dog Susi initially lives in the house of the Darling couple. When she accidentally meets the stray mongrel dog Strolch, he warns her that the couple will soon neglect her because of a baby.
- It comes as feared and Susi flees from her home after being muzzled. Once again she meets the Tramp. He helps her get rid of the muzzle.
- As the two approach the house, they realise that the baby is being threatened by a feisty rat. Tramp rushes to help, but is mistaken for the attacker and handed over to the kennel.
- In the rest of the plot, Susi and the neighbouring dogs try to save Scamp.
- Unlike the original, this is not a cartoon. The dogs are not completely computer animated, but this technology has been used from time to time.
The Mandalorian
The Mandalorian is inspired by the basic idea of Star Wars, but has little else to do with the film saga. Nevertheless, the film was welcomed with open arms by the science fiction community and has many fans today.
- The plot picks up five years after the fall of the Empire. A Mandalorian, played by Din Djarin, is making his way through life as a bounty hunter.
- He’s always successful at his job, so he gets an assignment from an Imperial client to find a fifty-year-old he initially doesn’t know.
- When he has tracked him down, the Mandalorian is initially surprised that the fifty-year-old in question looks like a child. He later realises that it is a child of the same species as Jedi Master Yoda was.
- He decides not to hand over the child, but to protect him instead, and in doing so gets himself into the vesier of his employer.
- In a chase, the protagonist hides with the child and as a result travels across the galaxy.
Diary of a Future President
The Diary of a Future President series follows a completely new concept, because until today there are only a few films that are told from the first-person perspective.
- A twelve-year-old American girl named Elena Cañero-Reed is the protagonist – a diary is told from her point of view.
- She talks about her life, her dealings with her friends and family, her mischievous brother Bobby to her mother. The latter has a new boyfriend who is employed in the same law firm as her mother.
- In the series, the very determined young student attends middle school and is thus exposed to the social pressure of her fellow students on a daily basis.
- One day Elena develops the dream of becoming President of the United States and works increasingly diligently towards it. The rest of the plot hilariously recounts her aspirations along the way.
Sisi (Parts 1 and 2)
The historical drama “Sisi” retells the story of Elisabeth of Austria-Hungary. Accordingly, the film is based on real events and is an absolute must not only for drama fans but also for viewers interested in history.
Subscribers have been eagerly awaiting the availability of the two parts for a long time. Disney+ has announced it will be made available on the streaming service on 20 August 2021.
- Growing up, Sisi was the Duchess of Bavaria. In 1854, she married her cousin Franz Joseph I, becoming Empress of Austria.
- The focus of the play is to take a closer look at the multifaceted life of the queen. The audience learns a lot about Sisi that is not in any history book.
- Critics describe the film version as particularly authentic and honest. After all, the play is told from the perspective of Sisi’s close confidante.
New series: What if?
“What if?” is a Marvel Studios production based on the comic book series of the same name. The first episode is scheduled for release on Disney+ on 11 August 2021.
- “What if?” picks up on landmark decisions in the studio’s films.
- The focus is on the question of what consequences a different decision might have had. The series thus presents alternative scenarios and courses of action to popular films.
- The first episode focuses on Peggy Carter, who – contrary to the original plot – ingests the super-soldier serum herself.
