If you want to use your Chromecast stick not only on your TV but also on your projector, that’s no problem at all. We show you how it works and which disadvantages you have to put up with.
Using Chromecast on a beamer: Advantages and disadvantages at a glance
The Chromecast works on a projector just as it does on a television – simply plug it into the appropriate HDMI port. How to set up the stick afterwards Please note: There are only minor restrictions when using it on the beamer.
- Please note that you can power the Chromecast stick on the TV directly via USB. There are usually no USB ports on the projector that are capable of supplying the Chromecast with the required power. You will need the power supply unit supplied with the projector.
- Because a projector usually produces a much larger picture than a television, there may also be limitations in terms of quality. The Chromecast has a maximum resolution of 720p. On the TV, this is usually still very sharp, but on the projector you have to reckon with higher losses.
- Conclusion: The Chromecast Stick can also be operated on a beamer without any problems. All you need is the additional power supply unit. Even though current beamers often resolve with 1080p, the Chromecast can only deliver 720p. The result remains good, but could be better.
