If you wear an Apple Watch on your wrist, you can simply use the smartwatch as a remote control for the Apple TV and thus do without the Apple Remote. We show you how it works.
Connect Apple Watch as a remote control for the Apple TV
Use your Apple Watch to conveniently control your Apple TV.
- Open the Remote app on your Apple Watch and tap your Apple TV or the “Add Device” button there.
- Now open the “Settings” on your Apple TV.
- Select the category “Settings” ☻ “Remotes and Devices” ☻ “Remote App and Devices”.
- Select the Apple Watch and enter the code that is now displayed on the Apple Watch.
- Once the two devices have successfully connected, you can control the Apple TV via the Remote app on the Apple Watch.
Use your Apple Watch as a remote control
After successful pairing, you can now use your Apple Watch as a remote control:
- Wake your Apple TV from sleep mode.
- Open the Remote app on the Apple Watch and select the Apple TV you want.
- Now you can use the Start (small triangle) and Pause (upside-down equals sign) buttons to start and pause movies and shows on the Apple TV, press the Menu button in the lower left corner to access the menu, or press the small triangle in the white circle in the upper left corner if you want to control another device.
