If you want to add music to your WhatsApp status, this is currently not possible directly. You have to take a diversion to share songs. We tell you how it works.
WhatsApp: This is a diversion to add music to your status
In WhatsApp, you use the status to share special moments in life or everyday occurrences with your contacts. It would be practical if you could add music to the pictures you want to share. However, this function does not yet exist in WhatsApp – you have to take a small diversions instead:
- Open a music player on your smartphone – and start playing the song you want to share.
- Then start WhatsApp and go to the “Status” tab.
- Now you will see a green camera icon at the bottom right. Tap on it.
- Swipe down from the top of the screen to open the quick options bar. This is where you will now find the player you use for playback.
- Tap the play icon to play the song through the smartphone’s speakers.
- Finally, record a video with WhatsApp by holding your finger on the circular icon. The song you play will now be used for the WhatsApp video you share via your status.
Alternative: Share music from Spotify in your status
Instead of adding music to your status, you can quickly and easily share songs from Spotify with your friends. To do this, follow these steps:
- Open Spotify on your smartphone.
- Select the song you want to share in your status. Tap the three vertical dots at the top right and go to “Share”.
- Select the WhatsApp icon. Now WhatsApp opens itself and you only have to tap on “My status” to share the song in your status.
