You can change the line spacing in Outlook with just a few clicks. The default spacing is set to 1.15.

In the Outlook user interface, more generous line spacing is set as the default. This is intended to make emails easier to read. These instructions apply to Microsoft Outlook versions 2013, 2016, 2019 and Office 365. User interfaces and options vary slightly between these versions.

  • For users of the classic menu: Select the “View” tab. Then click on “Layout”. Select “Use narrower spacing”
  • For users of the simplified menu: Click on “View”. Select “Use tighter spacing”. This option can be found directly in the main menu.
  • Depending on the version of Outlook you are using, you will find a “Format text” tab in the menu. Then go to “Paragraph” and click on the arrow at the bottom right. You can now set the desired line spacing
