To make 3D pictures yourself, you need certain programmes and 3D glasses. Many programmes can be used free of charge. For the beginning this is completely sufficient.
Make 3D pictures yourself: Free 3D Photo Maker
With the Free 3D Photo Maker you can easily create 3D images.
- Yet you can’t use all the functions with the free version. The full version currently costs 19 US dollars. You also need anaglyph glasses to see the 3D effect in the 3D image created
- Upload the same photo twice in the generator. Make sure that the angle of view is shifted 5 to 7 cm horizontally in the one picture. This is the only way to get the best 3D effect.
- Enter the desired target directory and the algorithm for creating the image. The generator will now start merging the two images.
Anaglyph Maker: Create 3D images yourself
The Anaglyph Maker is a free, virus-checked image editing programme. However, you will also need 3D glasses for the result of the images here.
- Upload a photo into the programme. Then select a conversion option.
- Change the brightness and contrast of the image to the desired level. Then click on “Make 3D Image”.
- If the generator does not produce the desired result, you can move the layers manually.
Making your own 3D images with Gimp
With the Gimp programme you can put a 3D effect on photos you have already taken. However, the 3D effect only works with glasses.
- Upload a photo in the Gimp software and select “Duplicate layer” with the right mouse button. You will now see two layers of the image on the right side.
- Now go to the first layer. Go to the menu item “Colours”, there to “Values” and set the numbers in the green and blue channel to 0. In the second layer do the same with the red channel.
- During the procedure you will always see the changing result in the layer window. Now enter “Screen” for the mode of the layers.
- Move the second layer with the move tool a little bit to the left. Now you have finished creating your 3D photo.
Phogy: Make 3D pictures yourself
The free camera app Phogy lets you take photos with a 3D effect. The app takes a different approach to 3D image creation than the other programmes mentioned.
- When you start the app, switch to the front camera. Now start taking photos. While doing so, slowly turn around in a circle.
- But make sure that the object to be photographed always remains in the centre of the display. This is the only way to achieve the best possible 3D effect.
- Now the background of the picture moves with you as soon as you move the smartphone back and forth.
