Uninstall uTorrent and Bitcoin Miner

With the careless installation of uTorrent, a tool is also installed that misuses your PC as a Bitcoin miner. McAffee also recognizes the Bitcoin miner as malware. How to uninstall uTorrent and, if necessary, the Bitcoin Miner:

  • First open the “Control Panel” and click on the “Uninstall a program” entry in the “Programs” section.
  • Select “uTorrent” from the list of installed programs. You will usually find the entry at the very beginning, as it is spelled with the Greek letter “µ”.
  • Click on the program and remove it using the “Uninstall” button. A wizard will guide you through the uninstallation process.
  • To also remove the software that is suspected of being a Bitcoin miner, search for “Epic Scale” and remove the entry.
  • Be sure to always select the “Custom installation” checkbox for future installations and remove all checkmarks. Otherwise additional programs will also be installed.
