Zettle (formerly iZettle) costs – all prices at a glance

There are costs for using the mobile POS system Zettle (formerly iZettle). In addition to one-off purchase costs, these also include fees that are incurred during use.

Costs for the acquisition of Zettle (formerly iZettle)

There are various costs associated with using the Zettle mobile POS system.

• Generally, you need the card reader from Zettle to use it. Here, you can opt for the Zettle Reader 2, among others. You can buy it directly on the Zettle website for just under 100 euros.
• This requires a smartphone or tablet to use, which controls the system. If you purchase a mobile device especially for use, you must expect costs from 200 euros for a smartphone or from approx. 350 euros for a tablet.
• In addition, there is the dock that charges and holds the reader. This costs about 60 euros from the manufacturer.
• If you want to print out purchase receipts, you also need to buy a receipt printer. At Zettle, you can buy one for 280 euros and up.
• If you also want to accept cash, you may need a cash drawer. Zettle offers these for 85 euros.
• Alternatively, you can also purchase the Zettle mobile terminal for around 245 euros. This also works without a smartphone or tablet.
• The additional dock, which charges the device and also serves as a receipt printer, costs another 121 euros extra.
• On Zettle’s website there are also checkout bundles where you can buy the different devices as a set. These are usually cheaper than buying the accessories separately.

Fees from Zettle

After you have made all the purchases to use Zettle, you are left with the cost of the system itself.

• With Zettle there is no contract and therefore no monthly usage fees.
• For debit card transactions, 0.95 percent of the purchase amount is charged.
• For all other cards, 2.75 percent is charged per transaction.
• Until 31 August 2022, there will also be a reduced fee of 0.75 per cent if the payment is made by PayPal QR code.
• In the Zettle Go checkout app, you can create a product listing, record sales, accept payments by card and view reports and statistics.
