Changing the PIN on a credit card works the same way at most banks. You can usually do this via the credit card provider’s online portal. However, the bank needs some data to do this.
Change your credit card PIN in just a few steps
There can be several reasons why you want to change the PIN of your credit cards. Either you have forgotten it or you have trouble remembering the number. It is not a big effort to have a new one generated.
- Call your bank. You will usually have to give your account number and date of birth. This is done to match your personal data.
- Alternatively to the phone call, you can also log into your bank account. Whether through your bank or directly to the credit card provider, you will normally have your own access at a corresponding internet portal where you can log in.
- Avoid writing down the PIN anywhere and keeping it in your wallet, handbag or basically near your credit cards. Once your wallet or handbag has been stolen, this can have nasty consequences. The thief can quickly get hold of your money.
- Use password apps on your mobile phone to securely write down your PINS or even passwords and retrieve them when needed.
- Note your PIN and keep it separate from your credit card in a safe place. For example, in a safe.
The new PIN will be sent to your address by post. Therefore, make sure in advance that you have entered the correct address.
