If you want to insert an up arrow in a Word document, there are various options. The procedure is different under Windows than under macOS.
Inserting an up arrow in Word: How to proceed
Entering an up arrow in Word is done quickly.
- The easiest way is to copy the arrow ↑ and paste it into your document. This works under both Windows and macOS.
- You can also enter the arrow yourself. If you are working under Windows and your keyboard has a numeric keypad, press the key combination [Alt] + 24. Make sure that you press the [Alt] key to the left of the space bar.
- If your keyboard does not have a numeric keypad, enter the number sequence 2191 in the desired position. Select the four digits and press [Alt] + [C] on your keyboard. The numbers are automatically converted into an arrow pointing upwards
- Under macOS, the above key combinations do not work. Instead, press [control] + [command] + [spacebar]. This opens the macOS character overview
- Click on “Arrows” on the left-hand side and select the up arrow.
