MS Office Word: Rotate Diagram - Practical Tips

MS Office Word: Rotate Diagram

by Mike

Microsoft Word offers numerous templates for diagrams, but rotating the diagrams is not so easy. Sometimes the function is well hidden or not even available. Nevertheless, there is a solution for every case.

Rotate diagram in Word

In this tutorial we use a pie chart for rotation. Not all diagrams can be rotated in Word. Depending on the version of Word, the arrangement and names of the options may differ slightly.

  • Right-click on the chart and select the option “Format Chart Area” or “Format Data Point”.
  • Now look for the “Data series options” or “Series options”. You can find these in the top right-hand corner by clicking on the small arrow (see screenshot)
  • Under the “Row options” you can now determine an angle by which the selected segment of the diagram should be rotated.
  • The diagram then rotates through 0 to 360 degrees as desired.
