Mac: End process under OS X – how it works

To end processes in Mac OS X, you can use the integrated activity display. It is opened via the Launchpad

Killing processes under Mac OS X: Using the Activity Monitor

Use the Activity Monitor to end individual processes under Mac OS X.

  • Open your Launchpad on your Mac and click on the Other folder. There you will find the Activity Monitor. Select this
  • Here you will find the individual processes that your system is currently running. To end a process, double-click on it and select the End button.
  • The process is now stopped directly. Alternatively, you can stop running applications via the integrated task manager.
  • Press the [command] + [option] + [esc] keys on your keyboard simultaneously to open a list of all running applications. Now select the desired program and click on Exit immediately
