Duplicate files on the Mac can be deleted using smart folders. This variant requires a little manual work
Find and delete duplicate files on your Mac: Using smart folders
Using Smart Folders, you can effectively find and then delete duplicate files. This works as follows:
- Open the Finder on your Mac. Then use the File option to create a New Smart Folder.
- Then define the rules and search attributes. For example, if you are searching for duplicate PDF files, adjust the folder accordingly.
- After this, complete the process with Save. Specify the storage location of the folder. You will then have immediate access to it.
- Open it to display the search results according to the defined rules and attributes. Then sort the search results according to the file name.
- Now you can check the list for duplicates. On iOS, most duplicates have the same name, which makes it very easy to find and then delete them. This is also possible with virtually all file formats
- Note: Alternatively, you can use apps such as Duplicate File Finder Remover. These find duplicates on your system automatically and, depending on the version, these are then deleted. Many apps with this function must be purchased or subscribed to.
