Create new iMovie templates

The video editing program iMovie for Mac developed by Apple delivers impressive results for a fair price. However, not only are the editing options limited for more complex video design, but the ready-made theme templates are also limited. No templates are offered for the user-friendly program itself. With the help of iDVD, however, there is a way to obtain new iMovie templates. You can find out how to do this in the following instructions.

  • Start iDVD and open a desired menu template
  • Edit the template as you wish by changing the text placeholders and inserting your own photos or videos. You can follow your changes live using the play button.
  • Save your result under “File” and select the option “Save as VIDO-TS folder”. An error message appears as you only want to export the menuIgnore the message, click on “Open DVD card” and then drag any video file into the “pop-up window”.
  • Before you can save the file in a folder, you must give it a name. Then close the iDVD.
  • The VOB file created cannot be read by iMovie. Therefore, convert the file with a video converter for Mac, such as the “Wondershare Video Converter Ultimate” or the freeware “Free Studio” into a format compatible for iMovie such as .mov or .mp4.
  • Now you can easily integrate the file with your desired template into your iMovie project.
