The right mouse button on the Mac is not immediately recognizable as a function. But there are various ways in which you can use it

Right-clicking on the MacBook involves a bit of a changeover. In the standard version, you have to tap the trackpad with two fingers to perform a right-click. We will show you how to activate the right mouse button for the trackpad or mouse.
- Select the system settings under the apple symbol in your dock
- Scroll down to “Trackpad” (or “Mouse”) on the left bar and click on it.
- Now you will see several options to choose from under “Secondary click” on the right-hand side. The default setting is “Click with two fingers”. Click on the arrows and select “Click down right” instead
- If necessary, make further settings for the trackpad. Otherwise, you can close the system settings and now right-click at the bottom right on the trackpad of your MacBook or on the mouse.
- Alternatively, you can right-click by holding down the “control” key and simultaneously tapping your touchpad with one finger or using the mouse.
Right-click: What you can use it for
The right-click on the MacBook can be used in many ways and makes work more efficient, especially with an Apple Magic Trackpad for the Mac. The common right-click options are not always known.
- Faster handling of files: Right-clicking offers you certain options for the selected object. This allows you to access functions such as copy, cut, rename, split or delete more quickly.
- Edit files more efficiently: In the Finder, you can activate “Open with” or “Quick actions” by right-clicking on a file. You can also display “Information” about the file.
- Browsing on the Internet: In the Safari browser, right-click to open links or add them to your reading list or bookmarks.
- Text formatting: For texts, right-clicking also offers you a correction selection and the option to add links.
