Skiing despite corona virus: DIY for mask attachment

Whether a medical respiratory mask is sufficient or an FFP2 respirator is needed when skiing depends entirely on the ski area. This way, the mouth-nose protection can be worn comfortably despite the ski helmet. The respirator mask can be attached to the visor of the ski helmet in just a few simple steps.

• With a lateral holder for sticking to the ski helmet, FFP2 masks can be easily fixed. The advantage is that an adhesive device can be adjusted exactly to one’s own size, which increases the wearing comfort of the Corona respiratory protection mask.

• Alternatively, there are well-holding clips that attach to the ski helmet’s retaining strap. These mask holders also make for comfortable skiing.

• Depending on the model of ski helmet, the FFP2 mask can be put on first and does not hinder the wearing of the ski helmet or other accessories in any way.

• The DIY tube scarf: Buy a model with sewn-in breathing protection and attach your breathing mask yourself in the scarf with safety pins.

These regulations apply to compulsory mask use when skiing

Germany has removed its classification as a high-risk area. In our neighbouring countries, regulations may still apply when skiing and skiers must abide by them.

• Do I need a corona vaccination in the skiing area? Make sure you find out in good time whether the 3G, 2G or 2G+ regulation applies in your skiing area. If so, you will need an up-to-date vaccination status. For 3G, a daily negative result from the rapid test on site is sufficient.

• Is a medical mask sufficient when skiing? Each region determines for itself what type of respirator is needed. In any case, you are better protected with an FFP2 mask than with a simple paper mask, which mainly protects those around you from infection.
• When must the mouth-nose covering be worn? In ski resorts, masks are compulsory both when skiing downhill and when using ski lifts.
• Where is it allowed to ski without a mask? Whether 2G or 3G, wearing a respirator will be compulsory in all ski resorts in spring 2022.
