Wood is very beautiful, but it has the disadvantage that odours can quickly take hold there. We will show you how you can effectively remove an odour from wood in this article.
Remove odours from wood with coffee and lemon
Smells tend to linger in wooden cupboards or shelves. However, with a mix of coffee, lemon and salt, you can quickly remove the unpleasant smell from your wood.
- First, clear out all the contents from the wooden cupboard or shelf. It is best to plan a day for odour removal.
- Mix two tablespoons of coffee with the juice of half a lemon and a teaspoon of salt. Stir the mixture thoroughly in a mug and put it in the wooden cupboard.
- Leave the mixture there for a day, adding a little water now and then so that the mixture does not dry out.
- Afterwards, let the cupboard air out well for a few more hours. The smell should now have dissolved from the lemon juice and been absorbed by the coffee and salt.
Miracle cure for odour in wood: vinegar
Vinegar is a true miracle cure in the household. You can also use it against unpleasant odours in wood. We will now explain how to do this.
- Put enough vinegar on a rag and wipe the wooden furniture with it.
- Vinegar has an antibacterial effect and also absorbs lingering odours.
- Then ventilate for several hours until the smell of vinegar has dissipated. Especially in wooden cupboards, you should wait until everything has dried well and nothing smells of vinegar any more.
- After that, you can put a vanilla pod or a scented pillow in the wooden cupboard, for example.
