It is important to descale your Tefal ironing station regularly. This is the only way to guarantee a long service life
Descaling the Tefal ironing station: How to proceed
Before you start the actual descaling process, make sure that your ironing station is switched off and has cooled down. Prepare all the necessary materials, including descaling solution, water and a container to collect water.
- Switch off the ironing station and unplug the power cable from the socket. Allow the appliance to cool down to avoid burns and remove the water tank, as well as the pressure container
- Read the manufacturer’s instructions carefully in order to carry out the recommended cleaning. This may vary slightly from appliance to appliance.
- As a rule, however, it is possible to remove the so-called “calc collector” and rinse off the accumulated limescale.
- You can achieve more thorough cleaning by placing the calc collector in a descaling solution.
- For appliances with this function, the manufacturers advise against adding a descaling solution to the water tank, as this can cause damage to these appliances.
- If your steam iron does not have this function, fill the water tank with descaling solution unless otherwise stated in the operating instructions.
- Close the water tank and make sure that it is properly secured. Then switch on the ironing station and select steam mode.
- Let the ironing station work for a few minutes so that the descaling solution can circulate through the system. Then switch off the ironing station and allow it to cool down.
- Finally, rinse the iron with water to remove the residues of the descaling solution.
