The Club 27 list includes famous musicians who have one thing in common: they all died at the age of 27.
List of the first Club 27 members
No one wants to be a member of the Club 27, because it includes musicians who all died at the age of 27.
- Four famous American musicians were the core of the club. One of them was Jimi Hendrix, a world-famous guitarist who died on September 18, 1970 at the age of 27 after an overdose of sleeping pills and alcohol.
- Shortly afterwards, on October 4, 1970, the American singer Janis Joplin died of a drug overdose at the same age.
- On July 2, 1971, Jim Morrison, frontman of the band “The Doors”, followed. He was found lifeless in a bathtub by his partner. It was known at the time that he had problems with drugs and alcohol. He, too, was only 27 years old.
- In 1994, it was Nirvana founder Kurt Cobain who died after a suicide at the fateful age. His mother repeatedly brought up the Club 27 after Cobain’s death. So the speculation arose as to why exactly this year of life was so dangerous for so many musicians.
- Numerous conspiracy theories were spread and more and more similarities between the musicians were discovered: Not only were they all 27 years old, but they were also known for their sometimes self-destructive and excessive lifestyles.
- The core members of the Club 27 also include Rolling Stones co-founder Brian Jones, who died in 1969, and singer Amy Winehouse, who passed away in 2011.
The list now includes numerous names
