During the cycling season, it often happens that the bicycle chain jumps out. So that you are prepared for emergencies on the road, we explain to you how you can easily put the chain back in.
Retighten the bicycle chain: Here’s how to do it in just a few seconds
If your bicycle chain has jumped out, you can easily retension it as follows:
- Take the chain and pull the rear derailleur forward.
- Retach the chain at the bottom first.
- Then try to turn backwards with the pedal.
- When hooking up, make sure you hook the chain into the correct gear.
- If you are practised, you can also re-hook the broken bicycle chain using the 2-finger trick.
That’s why the chain jumps out
If your chain jumps out more often, it may be due to several reasons.
- You are giving too much pressure when shifting gears.
- Your gear shift is not adjusted properly.
- Your bicycle sprocket is too worn.
