In order to access your T-Online e-mails on the iPhone, you need to set up the mailbox. We explain how to do this in this practical tip.
Setting up T-Online Mail: Preparing the iPhone properly
To retrieve your e-mails from T-Online on the iPhone, you must first make a setting in your T-Online account. To retrieve your e-mails through Apple’s “Mails” on the iPhone, T-Online requires a separate password, which you create as follows:
- Log on to the T-Online website.

Then click on Settings ☻ Passwords ☻ Password for e-mail programmes
- Set the password here that you will later use to access your T-Online e-mails via the Mails app on your iPhone.
- Furthermore, checking the port numbers of the “Inbox Server” and “Outbox Server” is essential for the setup on the iPhone.

You can find the information in your T-Online account under Settings ☻ Account ☻ Account Details. Here you can check the port numbers.
T-Online: Set up mailbox on iPhone
Once you have settled on a T-Online password for external mail programmes, you can start setting up the mail account on your iPhone.
- Switch to the settings and select Mail.
- Tap Add Account and select Other.
- Follow this by selecting Add Mail Account.
- Enter a name of your choice, your T-Online mail address and the T-Online password you created for Apple Mail. Under Description, type “T-Online”
- Tap Next and select IMAP.
- Once again, enter a name of your choice, your T-Online e-mail address (xxx@t-online.de) and “T-Online” for Description.

For the server for incoming e-mails, enter “secureimap.t-online.de” for Hostname. For User name, enter your T-Online e-mail address (xxx@t-online.de) and then enter your password.

For the server for outgoing e-mails, enter “securesmtp.t-online.de” under Hostname. Mail address and password remain the same and are entered again.
- Tap on Next and select the desired synchronisation settings. Finally, tap on Save.
- Go to Accounts and select your email account. Under Server for outgoing mail, select SMTP.
- In the upper left corner, tap Account ☻ Advanced again. Here scroll down and activate Use SSL. Under Server Port, enter “993” and then tap Account ☻ Done ☻ Accounts again at the top to get back to the beginning.
- The email account has now been configured. Your iPhone can now be used to send and receive T-Online mail.
