The Rapid Security Response technology changes the way iPhones receive updates. It makes them both faster and more secure, but you can also remove these express updates
This is Rapid Security Response for iPhones
The Rapid Security Response option was added by Apple with the update to iOS 16.
- While you used to have to restart your iPhone to get updates, this changes with iOS 16. Updates via Rapid Security Response can be installed while you are using your smartphone normally.
- These Express Updates are smaller updates that are intended to close security gaps as quickly and efficiently as possible. In addition, there are still the major updates, for example for a new version of iOS.
- In addition to your iPhone, Macs and iPads also receive these updates.
How to remove and disable Rapid Security Response updates
To remove the feature, do the following:
- Open the settings on your iPhone.
- Tap on the item “General”, then “Software update” and “Automatic updates”. Deactivate the item “Security measures & System files” to no longer receive the express updates.
- To remove existing updates, go to “General”, “Info”, “iOS version”, “Information” in the settings and then to “Remove security response”. Confirm your selection.
- Restart your iPhone.
