If your iPhone X has hung up, is running very slowly or has other problems, a soft reset can help. We’ll show you how it’s done
Performing a soft reset on the iPhone X
Unlike a hard reset, a soft reset does not delete any data. The soft reset forces the iPhone X to restart. Since the home button is missing on the iPhone X, the classic way to soft reset no longer works.
- On the iPhone X, you need to press and hold the Power button on the right and the Volume Down or Volume Up button on the left at the same time.
- The “Turn off” slider is displayed at the top. If you drag the slider to the right, the iPhone will shut down. You can then switch it back on again.
- If the iPhone no longer responds, press the volume up button and then the volume down button briefly and quite quickly in succession.
- Then press and hold the power button on the right side of the iPhone X until the Apple logo appears. The iPhone X will then restart.
