iPhone: Display battery status as a percentage – this is how to do it.

by Mike

Displaying the battery status of the iPhone as a percentage is possible with older iPhone models with a few clicks in the settings. Since the iPhone X, this is no longer possible. This is supposed to change again in the future.

Display the battery status of the iPhone in percent: This is how you proceed

If you have an older iPhone model that does not have a notch, you can display the battery level in percent via the settings.

  • To do this, go to the “Settings” of your iPhone.
  • Scroll down to the “Battery” entry and select it.
  • To activate the display, tap the switch at the option “Battery charge in %”.
  • The percentage display then appears next to the battery symbol.

Display battery status in percent on newer models

The procedure as described above is no longer possible on newer models from the iPhone X onwards.

  • The reason for this is the notch, which takes up a lot of space in the top bar. Therefore, Apple has decided to omit the percentage display as a feature.
  • Instead, you can only access the battery percentage via the control centre, which can be opened by swiping from the top right corner.
  • With iOS 16, this is supposed to change and the display in the battery area will be adjustable again. This is shown in the beta version of the operating system.
  • If you want to use the function, you will have to be patient for a while. The final version will be introduced in autumn 2022 together with the new iPhones.
