Apple introduced the iPhone 14 at their keynote on 7 September 2022 and presented many features. We explain what you need to know about the models – iPhone 14 Plus, Pro and Pro Max.
iPhone 14 – prices, models and colours
Just like the iPhone 13, the iPhone 14 will be released in the autumn – launch for the iPhone 14 as well as the Pro models is on 16 September 2022, the iPhone 14 Plus comes on 7 October, pre-ordering starts on 9 September at 2pm.
- In addition to the standard iPhone 14 model, there is the iPhone 14 Plus, the iPhone 14 Pro and the iPhone 14 Pro Max.
- The iPhone 14 costs 999 euros, the Plus model 1,149 euros. The iPhone 14 Pro costs 1,299 euros and the high-end Pro Max model costs 1,449 euros. The most expensive Pro Max model with 1,024 GB of memory even costs 2,099 euros.
- New features common to all iPhone 14 models are an eSIM instead of a SIM card slot and an accident detection function – the Apple Watch Series 8 presented is also equipped with accident detection. In addition, the new Pro models rely on a Dynamic Island instead of a notch and always-on displays.
- The accident detection is even supposed to be coupled with satellite emergency call in order to be able to call for help in areas with poor reception. This feature will initially only be available in the US and Canada and will be free for the first two years. After that, there will probably be a subscription model.
- While the standard and Plus versions of the iPhone 14 have a 12-megapixel camera, the Pro models come with 48 megapixels.
iPhone 14 and 14 Plus in detail
Externally, the iPhone 14 and 14 Plus models are not very different from their predecessors. The 13 model still had a mini with a 5.4-inch display. It is questionable whether this will be added, as a larger display was installed with the Plus.
- Size: The standard model has a 6.1-inch Retina XDR display, the Plus version is 6.7 inches.
- Colours: Both models come in blue, purple, midnight, polar star and red.
- Battery: According to the manufacturer, the standard iPhone 14 model lasts a maximum of 20 hours during video playback, the iPhone 14 Plus up to 26 hours. Charging is done with a MagSafe charger, 50 percent is said to be possible in 30 minutes.
- Memory: Both models are available with 128, 256 and 512 GB of storage space.
- Camera: With 12 megapixels, the camera of the iPhone 14 and 14 Plus has a higher resolution than the previous models. Especially in low light conditions, the 1.9 aperture scores points.

iPhone 14 Pro and Pro Max in check – What the luxury models can do
With the Dynamic Island, Apple brings a new notch onto the market. The fixed notch in the upper area of the display is now dynamic and can be used for notifications. Another new feature is the Action Mode, which promises even smoother video recordings.
- Size: The Pro models are also available in 6.1 inch and 6.7 inch (Pro Max).
- Colours: Dark Purple, Gold, Silver, Space Black
- Battery: According to Apple, the Pro Max allows video playback of up to 29 hours, while the normal Pro version offers 23 hours. These two versions also charge 50 per cent in 30 minutes, according to the manufacturer.
- Camera: The 48-megapixel main camera is equipped with a quad-pixel sensor, enabling four times the resolution of the previous model. In addition, the zoom range is extended with a twofold telephoto zoom. In cinema mode, the Pro model manages 4K HDR at 24 fps.
