The memory of the iPhone 13 cannot be expanded directly. Nevertheless, there are two methods that are suitable for memory expansion
iPhone 13 memory expansion via cloud solutions
If the iPhone 13 memory is full, you can’t just use an external memory card because the iPhone doesn’t have a slot for it. You can use cloud storage instead. This makes it possible to store files on a cloud and retrieve them at any time.
- Apple offers its own cloud for iPhone users. The iCloud provides you with 5 GB of storage for free as soon as you sign in with your Apple ID on the iPhone 13. You can get more storage for a fee.
- In addition to iCloud, you can use other cloud services. Most charge a certain amount monthly or annually, depending on the storage size and features.
- Look out for free cloud services too. With providers like Dropbox or Mega, you can get up to 20 GB of free storage, depending on the offer.
iPhone 13: Expand memory via devices with Lightning connector
As an alternative to a cloud, you can equip the iPhone 13 with external storage. For this, you only need the Lightning port of the smartphone.
- USB sticks with a Lightning connector are particularly popular for this purpose. They offer up to 256 GBytes of physical memory suitable for expansion.
- In addition to USB sticks, SD card readers with Lightning connectors are available. They are equipped with an SD or microSD card, which are significantly larger storage options.
- The drives can be used directly through the Lightning connector. Installation is usually not required.
- Important: You can only access the files on the storage media when they are connected.
