If you want to write and receive text messages with your iPad, you have several options. We’ll show you how it works.
iPad: Send and receive SMS via iMessage?
With iMessage you can’t send SMS, but you can send messages over the Internet. In principle, these are still “Short Message Services”, Apple just offers its own version of them.
- With iMessage you can also send messages via the Internet from the iPad to other iPhone, iPod touch and iPad users.
- Activate the “iMessage” function in the “Settings” app under the “Messages” category.
- You can now send messages to other users via the “Messages” app. They will need your Apple ID to do this.
iPad: Send and receive SMS via app
If you want to send messages to users from other smartphones, you can find several apps in the App Store that make this possible.
- With apps like Hushed, Skebby Free SMS or Global.AQ, you can get your own mobile phone number with which you can send and receive SMS messages for free.
- Messaging is usually limited, but can be extended by inviting friends or watching promotional clips.
- With Global.AQ, you can choose from different low-cost packages depending on how much SMS you want to send.
