If your iPad doesn’t recognise the Apple Pencil, it doesn’t always have to be a defect. Just try these steps before you go to the retailer
Apple Pencil is not recognised by iPad: Possible reasons
Your iPad not recognising the Apple Pencil may be due to an update to iOS, simple system errors, or hardware defects.
- Charge the Apple Pencil to make sure the battery has enough power. To determine this, you can use the battery widget.
- Check under Settings -☻ Bluetooth if the Pencil is visible. You may need to set it up again.
- If the Apple Pencil is visible, remove it and set it up again.
- Try registering the Apple Pencil to another device. This will help you find out if it’s the Pencil or the tablet.
- Try resetting the device. To be on the safe side, make a backup first.
- If all this does not work, consider going to a specialist or sending it in for warranty reasons.
