Apple Maps: Turn on traffic info in the Maps app

by Flo

If you use Apple Maps as your navigation system, you should also switch on the traffic information. This way you will always know if there is a traffic jam or road works on your route.

Enable congestion and traffic info in Apple Maps

The Traffic option shows you how fast you are moving on a road on Apple Maps. Depending on the extent of the congestion, roads are coloured orange to red.

  • Open the “Maps” app on your iPhone or iPad and tap the information icon at the top right of the screen.
  • If you select the “Traffic” option here, all the information will be displayed on the map.
  • Red and orange marked roads are currently heavily to moderately congested.
  • In addition, small symbols show you road closures, road works and danger zones.
