With just a few clicks, you can embed a PDF file on your WordPress website. Depending on the editor, the steps may look slightly different, but they are very similar when it comes to practising files.
Include a PDF file in WordPress with the Gutenberg Editor
It’s easy to embed a WordPress file into your website using the Gutenberg Editor. You can also follow the steps in our image gallery under the chapter.
- First log into the administrator area of your blog and select the page on which you want to embed the file. For example, go to the plus next to “New” in the top menu bar and select whether you want to create a post or a page.
- Position the cursor on your website where you want to embed the PDF. The PDF file can then be selected directly from your computer or from the Wordpress library. If you like, you can upload the file to the media library beforehand.
- Then select the item “Add files” at the top. You can now drag and drop the PDF document into the window or upload it with “Select files”.
Include PDF with the Classic Editor
If you use the Classic Editor, a PDF can be integrated into WordPress in a similar way.
- You can then define a description for the document and integrate it into your blog with “Insert into post”.
- Open the page or post where you want to embed a PDF. You can also create a new page.
- Go to “Add file”. Just like in the Gutenberg Editor, you now have the option of uploading the PDF directly from your computer or from the WordPress Media Library.
- WordPress will create an automatic link to the file.
- Tip: To integrate a PDF file more quickly in WordPress, use an appropriate plugin. For example, the “PDF Embedder” is suitable for this. After installation, you will find a corresponding function in the editor that makes it easier for you to embed PDFs.
