On WhatsApp, it is useful to mark a message in the chat with a star – but does the other person actually see it?

Does the other person see it when I mark a WhatsApp with a star?

With WhatsApp, it is sometimes not entirely clear what is displayed to your chat partner and which actions are only visible to you. You don’t need to worry about the little star symbol.

• The star has a special function on WhatsApp: you can use it to favorite messages and thus find them more easily. To do this, simply hold down a message in a chat and tap the star at the top of the menu. A small star symbol will appear under the message.

• Then go to the three dots in the upper left corner and tap on “View contact” or “Group info” for group chats, and you will see your saved photos, voice messages or texts under the item “Starred”.

• WhatsApp messages marked with a star are only visible to you. Other members in the chat cannot see whether you have favorited something or not.
