In the world of cutting-edge technology, there are many different terms that only a few people understand. One of these is the term “IPv6 address”. This is a network address.

• An IPv6 address is an address that is assigned to a terminal device within a network. It enables the respective device to be clearly identified in a network.
• IPv6 is the successor to the earlier network address IPv4. Compared to IPv4, IPv6 has many more features that are particularly advantageous when identifying devices within a network.
• Unlike other IP addresses, an IPv6 host has several IPv6 addresses. They also all have a different scope. If an IPv6 address is displayed, it is therefore not always clear which scope this IPv6 address has.
• An IPv6 address has a total length of 128 bits. Global IPv6 addresses can therefore also be valid beyond the local network on the Internet. In addition, there are also link-local IPv6 addresses that are only valid in the local network.
