Who will Bayern Munich face? Who does Eintracht Frankfurt face?
FC Bayern will also find out their opponents in the group stage of the Champions League from 18:00. The Munich team and Europa League winners Eintracht Frankfurt are seeded in pot one at the gala in Istanbul. This means that, for the time being, defending champions Real Madrid or Pep Guardiola’s Manchester City, among others, are eliminated as possible opponents.
- In return, the German football champions can face Jürgen Klopp’s FC Liverpool or FC Barcelona around long-time Bayern goal-scorer Robert Lewandowski early on.
- In addition to Munich and Frankfurt, Borussia Dortmund, RB Leipzig and Bayer Leverkusen have also qualified for the Champions League group stage from the Bundesliga. The first matchday will be played on 6/7 September. The two best teams in each case will reach the round of 16.
- The Bavarians were defeated by Villarreal FC in the quarter-finals last season and thus missed the semi-finals against Liverpool. The Champions League final will take place on 10 June 2023 at the Atatürk Olympic Stadium in Istanbul
