A Padlet is what can be described as a versatile tool that allows you to easily organize, present and share content
What Padlet actually is: A digital pinboard for creatives
Padlet is a term that is mainly used in connection with digitalization and schools. It is an app designed to help teachers make school lessons more efficient.
- The focus of the app is on collaboration between pupils. Content can be created, shared, updated and discussed in real time
- A digital pinboard offers the opportunity to create images, texts, drawings, links and much more. Students can communicate with each other through live chats and commenting on entries
- This can look like this in practice: Pupils are given the task of looking for one thing in your area, for example plants for biology lessons. The photos of the plants are taken with the cell phone and uploaded to the pinboard via Padlet. Every other pupil can now view the photos via the app
These are the advantages and disadvantages of the app
Padlet undoubtedly offers many advantages, but as with any tool, there are also some disadvantages that need to be taken into account.
- Padlet must be accessed using a digital device, for example a smartphone, PC or tablet. This assumes that every child has one or that the school can at least provide enough.
- The app can be used free of charge for up to three pinboards.
- If you want more, you have to pay a monthly fee. You can choose between different tariffs, such as for yourself, for a team, school or for a company.
- Padlet is characterized by a user-friendly interface that allows even less technically savvy people to create and use digital pinboards quickly and easily.
- Despite its user-friendliness, the app requires a certain level of maturity and common sense to be able to work with it appropriately. Younger pupils may not yet have an understanding of this way of working or may therefore use it to get up to mischief.
- But Padlet basically facilitates real-time collaboration, as people can work on a pinboard at the same time. This promotes interaction and the exchange of ideas in group projects or teaching scenarios.
