An additional membership on Netflix is an affordable way to share the streaming provider with someone outside of your household. This is to prevent account sharing. The account holder pays for the additional members and manages them.

• The cost of additional membership depends on whether the additional member can view content with advertising. The cheaper option with advertising costs 3.99 euros per month. In this case, the additional member can only make 15 downloads per month.

• For the additional membership without advertising, you pay 4.99 euros per month. The monthly limit of downloads corresponds to that of the account holder.

• An important difference for additional members is that they can only create one profile and not a child profile. Furthermore, it is only possible to watch and download content on one device.

• As the Netflix account holder, you can add and manage additional members. The additional members can be changed at any time, but only twice per billing period.

• In addition, additional memberships can only be added to existing accounts. If the main account is canceled, this means that the additional membership is also terminated.

This is how you create a Netflix additional membership

The account holder can add additional members to their own standard or premium subscription. This works via the web browser, but also via the television and on TV streaming devices.

• Enter netflix.com/account in your search engine and sign in. Then go to “Buy space for additional members” and click on “Next”.

• Now you have to check and confirm the new payment amount. As soon as this is done, your account will be debited. Next, select “Buy Now”.

• Enter both the name and email address of the new member – as well as your own information. For the additional member, you can either create a new profile or transfer an existing one.

• The additional member should then receive an invitation link by email. As soon as this has been activated, you will receive a notification as the account holder.

• On your TV, create an additional membership by clicking on “Find out more” and then on “Buy now”. As soon as you have made the purchase, the new payment amount will be debited on the invoice date.

• If the message “Just one step left: Who is your additional member?” appears, click on “Next” and enter the additional member’s cell phone number. The invitation link will be sent to the person by text message. After the new member activates it, you will be notified.
