Instagram: Upload a video – here’s how

On Instagram, you can either upload a video from your library or record it directly in the app and share it with your followers. In addition, the video can be made more attractive with various filters beforehand.

Instruction: Upload videos to Instagram

If you want to upload a video to your Instagram feed, first open the Instagram app.

• Tap the plus icon in the top right corner and then tap Post if you want the video to become a regular post.
• In the lower area you will directly see your gallery on your smartphone. If you want to upload a video from here, you can search for and select the corresponding clip.
• If you want to record a new video, tap the camera icon on the far right.
• Your camera preview will open and a white circle will appear below it.
• As soon as you tap and hold this, the video is recorded. When you release it, the recording stops.
• You can then trim the clip or put a filter over it.
• In the next step, you can enter a caption, set hashtags and mark people in the video. You can also add locations here.

• Tap “Share” and the video will be uploaded to Instagram.

Instagram: Upload video as a story or reel

If you don’t want to immortalise the video in your feed, you can also upload it as a story or make a reel.

• For an Instagram story, select the plus symbol on the homepage again and tap on Story. There you will see your gallery and can upload the corresponding video by tapping on it. Or you can tap the camera icon and record the video directly in Instagram.
• After selecting the video clip, you will see an editing window. Here you can tag people, add font, insert GIFs or add an effect to the video.
• At the bottom of the picture you can choose whether you want to upload the video to your story and make it visible to everyone or only make it accessible to a selected group of people.
• If you want to upload a video as a reel, also go to the plus symbol on the start page and then to Reels. Press and hold the white circle with the video icon to record a video. You can upload an existing video by pressing the small blue plus at the bottom left and selecting the clip from your gallery.
• A reel can consist of several clips that you join together. You can now add music, use effects or add text and GIFs by tapping on “Preview”. As soon as you tap on “Next”, the screen appears where you can set final details such as caption, person markers or the profile picture of the reel. Click on Share and the video will be uploaded.
