The Aspect Ratio in Midjourney can be adjusted according to your own preferences by using the appropriate command.
Midjourney: Adjust Aspect Ratio
It is possible to generate midjourney prompts in the desired aspect ratio. It has a significant effect on the results.
- To change the aspect ratio for a prompt in Midjourney, use one of the following commands: –ar or –aspect. Then type in the desired aspect ratio.
- The aspect ratio is specified with x:x. Each x represents the width and height of the image and is exchanged with a number, for example 16:9 or 4:3.The typical aspect ratio of Midjourney is 1:1.
- Place the command after the prompt. The typical structure is as follows: /imagine prompt: Here you enter the prompt. –ar x:x. You can then enter other commands before or after the aspect ratio.
- The selected aspect ratio does not determine the resolution of the image. You can adjust the aspect ratio using the commands –w x and –h x.
Supported aspect ratios in Midjourney
Midjourney is no longer limited to single aspect ratios since the release of version 5. You can theoretically insert any number for the proportions, which can also negatively affect the results. The following list presents aspect ratios that are suitable for a variety of prompts:
- 1:1 is the classic midjourney aspect ratio and is particularly suitable for images that can be easily lined up. It is often used for profile pictures and tiles.
- With 3:2 you use an aspect ratio that is often used for printed images. Alternatively, 2:3 is a good choice for creating classic posters. Another aspect ratio for classic photos is 5:4.
- If you want to use the classic TV and computer format, enter 4:3. Modern HD TVs and smartphones, on the other hand, usually use 7:4.
- Another classic is 16:9, used for landscape shots and widescreen displays. Alternatively, 9:16 is used for portraits.
