If Firefox no longer works properly, you can start the browser in safe mode and thus avoid problems. We will show you how to do this.
Start Firefox in safe mode
In safe mode, Firefox only starts with the most necessary functions. If Firefox does not start or the browser no longer works properly, safe mode can provide a remedy.
- Click on the menu button at the top right of the Firefox window and select the “Help” section at the very bottom.
- Select “Troubleshooting Mode” here and confirm the action with the “Restart” button.

After a few seconds, confirm the message that appears by clicking the “Open” button. Firefox will now start in safe mode.
Boot Firefox directly in Safe Mode
It’s even faster if you give the safe mode command while Firefox is still opening.
- Hold down the Shift key at the bottom left of your keyboard and double-click on the Firefox icon on your desktop.
