You can cancel Amazon Prime with just a few clicks. You don’t have to write a complicated letter or send an email. We show you how to get rid of the Prime subscription.
Cancel Amazon Prime Membership
To cancel Amazon Prime, it only takes a few clicks in your account settings:
- Open Amazon’s website and log in with your email address and password.
- Click on the “Account and Lists” category at the top right and click on “My Prime Membership”.
- Now click on “Manage your Prime membership” in the top right corner.
- Click on the option “Cancel membership – Give up benefits” on the left.
- You will then be additionally offered to cancel the subscription directly or to remind you again before the next payment. Select the button “I renounce my Prime benefits”.
- Now follow the final steps to cancel Prime. You can continue to use your benefits until your subscription expires.
Cancel Amazon Prime trial membership
If you are using a trial membership of Amazon Prime, you can cancel it even more easily. Note that the trial will automatically convert to a paid subscription if you don’t cancel within the 30 days.
- When you use Amazon Prime for the first time, you get free access for 30 days. During this period, you can test the offer without obligation.
- If you do not wish to continue with the paid subscription, please also follow steps 1 to 3 above.
- Then click on the option “Do not renew automatically” on the left side and confirm the process by clicking on the button “Switch off automatic renewal”.
Refunds and Co.: Cancel Prime and get your money back?
Cancel Amazon Prime and you will only get your money back in exceptional cases.
- You pay for Amazon Prime in advance for one year. If you want to cancel after a few months, Amazon will not refund the difference. If you have used the benefits of Amazon Prime, there is no money back. You must therefore cancel in good time, otherwise you will pay for the entire year.
- Amazon does make one exception: “If you and your invited household members have not yet used the benefits of Prime in the respective paid period, we will refund the full membership amount for that period.” This applies first and foremost to Premium shipping, Amazon Prime Video or the Premium discounts.
- There is only room for manoeuvre in the form of the 14-day notice period. Even if the contract is automatically extended by one year, the general notice period of two weeks applies. In this case, it is worth contacting Amazon’s customer service.
