Blob Opera: Create your own opera with the help of AI – this is how it works

by Mike

Google Blob Opera is an interactive tool that allows users to create and record their own opera songs. We show you how it works.

Google Blob Opera – how the tool works

With Blob Opera you can generate opera songs in an intuitive and amusing way. Behind the sounds of the four colourful blobs is an artificial intelligence that has been trained with the help of real opera singers. The sounds are generated by moving the blobs. This is how you can create your own opera with the help of the AI:

  • Open the official page of Google Blob Opera and click on “Start Experiment”.
  • Follow the instructions in the tutorial or skip it at the bottom right.
  • From left to right, the four blobs cover four voices: Soprano, Mezzo-Soprano, Tenor and Bass.
  • Drag the blobs up and down to change the pitch.
  • Pull the blobs forward or back to sing different vowels (a, e, i, o, u)
  • The voice you choose is the leading voice. The lower voices automatically adapt harmonically. Try out some variations! At the bottom right you can also change the setting.
  • The button at the bottom left allows you to record and play back your own compositions. There is also the option to share your work.
