Changing emojis on BeReal proves to be different and perhaps a little more complicated than on all other common social media apps. This is because, unlike those, you do not simply select the appropriate existing emoji as a reaction.
How to change your emojis in BeReal
What’s special about BeReal is that you post one picture a day and don’t get to decide when to do it. The point of it all is to create a social platform that is as close to reality as possible, unlike others. There are also some special features in the emojis you can use to respond to your friends’ posts.
- The emojis on BeReal are called Realmojis, because here too the app’s developers claim to be “real”. They are not pre-made emojis, as instead you record the reaction with your own facial expressions.
- To create such a realmoji, click on the smiley icon on the side of the picture when you make a post. There, pick the emoji you want to recreate, whereupon a small camera circle will open. Imitate the reaction with your own face. Then tap “next” and select the real emoji you have created to post it.
- If you want to delete a recorded Realmoji, click on the smiley symbol again and hold your finger on it. An “X” appears with which you confirm the deletion of your saved grimace. Afterwards, you can record a new realmoji for this emoji.
- To delete an already posted Realmoji in a friend’s uploaded BeReal, tap it in their comment box and then go to the three dots on the top right. There, drag the Realmoji back from the post.
- If you don’t have a suitable emoji ready as a reaction, or don’t want to delete anything, you can select the lightning emoji. This will not save your grimace, so it is a one-time reaction.
